The Department of English welcomes author Dionne Irving for a free public reading and discussion of her work. Dionne Irving is originally from Toronto, Ontario. She is the author of Quint (7.13 Books) and The Islands (Catapult Books) in 2022, as well as numerous stories and essays. Her work has appeared in Story, Boulevard, LitHub, Missouri Review, and New Delta Review, among other journals and magazines. Irving teaches in the Creative Writing Program and the Initiative on Race and Resilience at the University of Notre Dame. Among its many recognitions, The Islands was a finalist for the 2023 PEN/Faulkner Award and in 2022 was included in NPR’s list of Books We Love, The Million’s list of Most Anticipated, Good Morning America’s Books to Pack for the Holidays, and a New York Times December list of 11 recommended books.
