Caryl Phillips was born in St.Kitts and came to Britain at the age of four months. He grew up in Leeds, and studied English Literature at Oxford University. He began writing for the theatre as well as many dramas and documentaries for radio and television, and over 15 fiction and non-fiction books. His work has been translated into over a dozen languages.

Phillips’ literary awards, prizes and recognitions are almost too many to count and he has taught at universities all over the world. Phillips is presently Professor of English at Yale University. To read more about him in detail, visit: http://www.carylphillips.com/biography.html
