About this Event
Compromising Afghan women’s rights in negotiations with the Taliban has important and lasting implications for long-lasting peace. Such implications reach beyond Afghanistan, and impact women across the globe in peace-building processes, where despite UN Resolution 1325, their rights can be compromised for short-term political gain.
In conversation with renowned women’s rights advocates, Drs. Sima Samar (Afghanistan) and Sally Armstrong (Canada), we will discuss the implications of the current Afghan peace negotiations and constitutional reforms with the Taliban on women’s rights and status. Please join us via Zoom on Tuesday, 23 June 2020 from 10:00 to 11:30 am EST. No registration required.
