About this Event
141 East College Avenue, Decatur, GA 30030
Agnes Scott Faculty and Staff are invited to participate in a roundtable discussion about the impact of colorism on the Latinx community (especially for Indigenoius and Afro-Latinos). We will examine the difference between colorism and racism, explore how colonialism influenced these attitudes, and discuss ways to combat colorism, and embrace the diversities in racial identity and complexion within the Latinx community.
Facilitator: Christina Tatum (she/her) is the Instruction & Outreach Librarian at McCain Library. She enjoys planning library events and working with students to achieve positive learning outcomes. Christina is passionate about issues of equity, diversity, and inclusion. Her favorite African proverb and piece of advice is, "If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together".
