This event consists of a presentation and Q+A session on religious trauma syndrome (RTS) led by Agnes Scott alum Maggie Parker (she/her). Maggie is a religious studies scholar with a particular interest in religious trauma syndrome and the intersections between religion, psychology, and pop culture. While at Agnes Scott, Maggie wrote her senior thesis on RTS and went on to present her work at conferences across the world. Since graduation, she has conducted further research on the subject; for example, just last year, she published a series of essays on the relationship between RTS and rock music. She is also pursuing a Master's of Divinity at Mercer University and is serving as the youth ministry director at First Presbyterian Church in Gainesville, GA.
