Policing, Incarceration, and Recidivism Panel

"Witkaze's Community Service Committee will be hosting a panel discussion with leading experts in the criminal justice field. This event will be held via Zoom on December 9, 2020, from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. EST. During this event, the critical topics of discussion will be mass incarceration, policing, and recidivism. There will be representatives from the Innocence Project, the Bail Project, the American Civil Liberties Union, the American Correction Association, and the Law Enforcement Action Partnership. Please understand that this event will not bash or uplift one side; the Community Service Committee will be remaining neutral while moderating this event. We are not going to vilify panelists for their profession or involvement in criminal justice. This event is a well-rounded discussion that will present varying perspectives on the current climate in our community. Mentionings of race and socioeconomic status will be present in this conversation. There will be a disclaimer given before the start of the panel; we do this to ensure that all participants and audience members are as comfortable as possible with the complex discussion topics.

If you need to reach out to us immediately, please contact Simone Harris at (and CC or call 615-689-8052.
Below is the disclaimer for that will be read at the start of the panel event:
On behalf of Witkaze and the Community Service Committee, we present to you the first Incarceration Awareness Panel event. We want to advise you that some of the topics discussed during this event may be sensitive. During this event, Witkaze and the Committee both expect the utmost respect from our panelists and audience members. This is an open-minded discussion and we want to have a well-mannered Q&A session. We hope you all have a good time, and we look forward to your questions during our Q&A session. Thank you!
