Agnes Scott post-bacc pre-med students and alums are invited to enhance their academic and professional experience with an expert led health webinar. Dr. Amy Patterson, Associate Professor & Chair of Public Health, will facilitate this professional development opportunity engaging students on key aspects of "Patient / Provider Communication: A Webinar for PBPM Students."
Dr. Patterson will discuss the influence of patient-provider communication on health outcomes, provide an overview of some of the key challenges related to patient-provider communication, and introduce some strategies for improving patient-provider communication.
Dr. Amy Patterson is an Associate Professor of Public Health at Agnes Scott College. She earned her MHS in International Health from Johns Hopkins University and her Ph.D. in Behavioral Science and Health Education from Emory University. Prior to joining the faculty at Agnes Scott, she worked as the Assistant Director of the malaria program at The Carter Center, and has worked in Mali, Nigeria and Ethiopia as well as in the United States. Her research interests include maternal and reproductive health, infectious diseases, pathways to diagnosis for patients with rare diseases, patient-provider communication, and program evaluation.
