DESCRIPTION:The Gladden Award is given to a member of the Agnes Scott facul
 ty whose scholarly activities are especially noteworthy. Recipients are as
 ked to give a public lecture to the Agnes Scott community on a topic relat
 ed to their scholarly work. The Gladden Public Lecture Series is named for
  Joseph R. Gladden Jr.\, chair of the Agnes Scott Board of Trustees from 1
 992 to 2002. This year\, we honor Professor of English\, Nicole Stamant.\n
 \nNicole Stamant\, Fuller E. Callaway Professor of English\, specializes i
 n Life Writing and American Literature. She is the author of Memoirs of Ra
 ce\, Color\, and Belonging (2022) and Serial Memoir: Archiving American Li
 ves (2014)\, and her journal articles have appeared in South Atlantic Revi
 ew\, MELUS\, English Language Notes\, and Studies in Comics\, among others
 \; she has also contributed to several edited collections. She currently s
 erves as the managing editor of a/b: Auto/Biography Studies and as Preside
 nt of the South Atlantic Modern Language Association (SAMLA). Her current 
 project considers hospitality in culinary memoir. As this year’s recipie
 nt of the Joseph R. Gladden Jr. Public Lecture Award\, Professor Stamant w
 ill present her lecture entitled\, "Ethical Encounters: Considering Hospit
 ality in Culinary Memoir". \n\nThis event is free and open to the public.
