About this Event
Dr. Ama Oforiwaa Aduonum joins in conversation with Agnes Scott faculty about intellectual decolonization. As both a scholar and an artist, her work addresses Western educational frameworks, including a Summer 2021 article in the Journal for Ethnomusicology titled "Ethnomusicology, Ayε Kradow?" She describes embodied research methodologies in a follow up article for that same issue, "Walking as Fieldwork Method in Ethnomusicology." As a native of Ghana with a long history of professional achievement within the framework of US academia, Ama offers a fresh perspective on teaching, research, and the academic life we all share. This opportunity for engaging colleagues on a topic current in the minds of students and faculty alike is part of her week-long residency as Kirk Visiting Scholar and Artist.
