DESCRIPTION:Join this hands-on & collaborative leadership intensive to expl
ore sustainability topics with other students in Atlanta!\n\nInspired by D
ungeons & Dragons and other roleplaying games\, Beyond Waste Summits have
attendees portray students at the fictional “Emergence University” and
work together to build conceptual campus sustainability projects.\n\nStud
ents collaborate on activities like mapping key stakeholders\, creating a
social media strategy\, and planning the logistics for an event. These enc
ourage in-depth program planning\, troubleshooting\, and leadership develo
pment skills. At the end of the day\, students present their work to a “
Board of Trustees” and gain experience with both giving & receiving feed
back.\n\nThe project simulations highlighted in this event will be:\n\n1.
Compost\nIt has long been realized that all of the food waste from the cam
pus dining halls goes in the trash. Students are interested in crafting a
better\, more innovative solution. In this simulation\, students will work
on setting up a compost system that fits the needs of the Emergence Unive
rsity campus.\n\n2. Thrift Store\nThough there is a significant interest i
n Sustainable Fashion and campus clothing swaps\, there is no thrift store
on campus. In this simulation\, students will work on building a permanen
t\, accessible\, and welcoming space where students have access to discoun
ted and secondhand items.\n\n3. Move-Out Program\nStudents going home for
the Summer always leave their stuff on campus. There is a need to figure o
ut a better solution\, including where and how to store items at the end o
f the year. In this simulation\, students will work on creating a circular
  move-out system.\n\n_____________________________________________________
