The campus community is invited to join the class of POL 222 for a guest lecture by Professor Autumn Cockrell-Abdullah entitled “Art & Agency: Transforming Relationships of Power Through Art in Iraqi Kurdistan”. This event is co-sponsored by SUMMIT and the Middle Eastern Studies and Human Rights Programs.
Dr. Autumn Cockrell-Abdullah received her Ph.D. in International Conflict Management from Kennesaw State University and her M.A. in Cultural Anthropology from Georgia State University. Engaging arts-based perspectives for the analysis of conflict, Dr. Cockrell-Abdullah has focused her research on the expressive cultures of the Middle East and currently works in Iraqi Kurdistan with visual and conceptual artists. Traveling regularly within the Middle East, she has also conducted research in Egypt, the U.A.E., Lebanon and Oman, to include research in Cameroon and around Europe.
