The Dabney Adams Hart Distinguished Visiting Humanities Professorship Fund was established in 2003 by Madeline and Howell E. Adams, Jr. in honor of his sister, Dabney Hart '48. This fund welcomes visiting scholars to campus in a variety of topics and disciplines. This year, Professor Cynthia Patterson of Emory University will deliver a lecture entitled "Plato and the Problem of Slavery". Her focus will be on the concept of slavery and emancipation in late classical Greece/late Classical Greek thought (especially Plato).
