In-person Chinese & Turkish language program

For the 2021 Georgia STARTALK Program, there will be two language programs: Chinese and Turkish. The Chinese program will enroll 24 middle school and high school students, and the Turkish program will enroll 10 students who are between rising high school juniors to rising college juniors.

June 28–July 11, 2021 - (no class on July 4th)

Cost: Free

The camp is designed for students with no or limited (less than 50 hours of instruction) previous experience in learning Chinese or Turkish. All costs will be covered by the funding from the National Security Agency’s STARTALK program and Agnes Scott College. Students either learn Chinese OR Turkish in the program.

The 13-day program, with a total of 91 hours of instruction in Chinese or Turkish, will allow students to attain novice-mid proficiency* in the target language. Throughout each day, students will engage in immersive language learning, through completing language tasks, practicing martial arts or Taekwondo, singing/dancing, and playing games. All applicants must be committed to attending all 13 days of the program; if you cannot attend any of the days, please do not apply to this program.

*According to ACTFL proficiency guidelines
