The Betty Pope Scott Noble '44 College Heritage Center is a museum and
research center displaying historical documents, photographs and
artifacts relating to Agnes Scott (the person and the institution) and
the Scott family. Highlights of the Scott family collection on display include a suit that
was made by Agnes Scott for her son George Washington Scott, Agnes
Scott's spinning wheel, George Washington Scott's Civil War cavalry
sword and saddle, Agnes Scott's family Bible, other family books,
letters and pictures. Highlights of the Agnes Scott College collection
on display include the handwritten minutes of the 1889 meeting at which
the college was founded, a picture of the student body in 1891, one of
the first two diplomas ever issued by the school in 1893, and a
collection of rings including rings from the early years before the
adoption of the black onyx in 1935. A photo display allows the viewer
to see the development of the school decade by decade from 1889 to the
present, and to compare aerial views of the college over the years from
the 1920s to the present.
