Danceworks 2012 will be an evening of dynamic dance
performance by members of Studio Dance Theatre, the student-performing
ensemble, at Agnes Scott College. The program includes two reconstructions from
Labanotaiton score. The first is a
revival of a work from 1906 by modern dance pioneer Ruth St. Denis called Incense and the second work, Commonplace, was choreographed in 1996
by master choreographer Susan Hadley.
The concert will also feature a new piece by student choreographer Chandler
Smoak and two new works choreographed by Bridget Roosa, director of the
dance program. Roosa’s new works include a collaboration with the ASC Chamber
Orchestra directed by faculty member Qiao Solomon and a new collaborative
performance piece by Complex Mammal, with
choreography by Bridget Roosa and light, set design and projection by faculty
member Nell Ruby. This new
collaborative work is called HeLa and
is a response to the Agnes Scott common read book, “The Immortal Life of
Henrietta Lacks”. This evening
highlights the dancers versatility and will provide something for everyone to
enjoy.

p.m. in Gaines Chapel, Presser Hall for Danceworks 2012. Tickets are Free for the ASC
